Privacy policy
Effective date: 14 May 2026
This privacy policy explains how one-sliders.com ("OneSliders", "we", "us") handles information when you visit the site. We aim to be transparent and to collect only what is needed to operate and improve the site.
1. Who we are
OneSliders is an independent publisher of summaries about world events, locations, sports and culture. The site is operated as a personal project. For privacy questions, contact privacy@one-sliders.com.
2. What we collect
We do not require you to create an account. The information processed when you visit is limited to:
- Technical access data — IP address, browser/device type, referring page, pages viewed and timestamps. Standard for any web server.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address by a third-party service (see "Cookies and third-party services" below) only to determine whether to display the cookie banner.
- Analytics data — if you consent, Google Analytics 4 collects anonymised usage statistics such as page views, session duration and rough geography (country/region).
- Advertising and affiliate data — if you consent, ad and affiliate partners (such as Google AdSense) may set cookies to deliver relevant ads, measure performance and attribute affiliate clicks.
3. Legal basis
For visitors in the EU, EEA and UK we rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) for analytics, advertising and affiliate cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) since they are required to deliver the site you requested.
4. Cookies and third-party services
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — small browser-storage entries used to remember your cookie choice (
os_consent_v1) and your detected country (os_geo_country). Always active. - Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (
G-1EG5HKVW09). Sets cookies starting with_ga. Used to understand site usage. Disabled until you accept. - Advertising and affiliate — Google AdSense and affiliate networks. May set cookies to personalise ads and measure clicks. Disabled until you accept.
Third parties processing data on our behalf or as independent controllers:
- Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC — Analytics, AdSense and Tag Manager. Privacy policy.
- ipapi.co — IP-based country lookup used only to decide whether to show the cookie banner. Privacy policy.
- GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.) and Fastly — hosting and content delivery. Standard server logs. Privacy policy.
We use Google Consent Mode v2. Until you accept analytics or advertising, all related Google cookies are denied and Google receives only consent-less, cookieless pings (or nothing) depending on your choice.
5. International data transfers
Our third-party providers may process data outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. Where applicable they rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission and similar safeguards.
6. How long we keep data
- Your cookie choice: stored locally in your browser for up to 12 months.
- Google Analytics: default retention of 14 months for user-level data.
- Server access logs: typically rotated within 30 days.
7. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You can also withdraw consent at any time by clicking Cookie settings below or in the floating link in the page corner.
You can also lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority.
8. Children
OneSliders is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above will reflect the most recent change.
