About the event

Copenhagen Marathon moved to a ballot for 2027 because demand outgrew the field. Runners who came through had 48 hours to complete registration and pay 995 kroner plus a 20-krone administration fee. The race itself is on Sunday 9 May 2027.

The 2027 race is the first Copenhagen Marathon you cannot simply sign up for. Demand outgrew the field, so places went into a free ballot open for three weeks from 13 May to 3 June 2026, with one entry per person. Groups of up to three could enter together and were drawn together or not at all, which is unusual and makes it a race you can plan with friends rather than alone.

Entering the ballot costs nothing; only the runners who are drawn pay. The place itself is 995 kroner plus a 20-krone administration fee, so 1,015 kroner in total, and optional insurance adds 99 kroner at registration. Drawn runners get an email and have 48 hours to complete registration and pay before the place goes back. Entries are personal and cannot be transferred to someone else.
