About the event

The Anzac Day clash between Essendon and Collingwood is one of the AFL's most emotional and best-attended fixtures, played each 25 April at the MCG to commemorate Australia's war dead. Since 1995 it has drawn huge crowds and opens with a solemn pre-match ceremony.
