About the event

Nine December evenings of light art, free to walk through, timed to Nobel Week: the 2026 festival runs from 5 to 13 December and is the seventh edition. Installations are spread across the city centre and, this year, Tensta, with Stockholm City Hall at Hantverkargatan 1 as the main site. The festival is presented by the Nobel Prize Museum and produced by Troika Art.

The festival hangs light art on the city for the nine darkest evenings of the year, free to walk through, and ties it to Nobel Week rather than to Christmas. The 2026 edition is the seventh and spreads beyond the centre to Tensta, with Stockholm City Hall as the main site. It is presented by the Nobel Prize Museum and produced by Troika Art, so the works are commissioned rather than bought in.

Admission is free and nothing is ticketed: the works stand in public space and you walk between them at your own pace over the nine evenings. There is no entrance, no queue and no membership. Paid add-ons exist around the festival - a guided winter kayak tour views the City Hall installation from the water - but they are run by other companies and are not part of the festival itself.
