London New Year's Eve Fireworks – The Thames, central London
About the event

The Mayor of London's fireworks display is fired from the Thames between the London Eye and Westminster at midnight on 31 December. The viewing areas along the embankments are ticketed and fenced, and tickets are sold through the official partner rather than at the gate. For the 2026 display the release date had not been announced as of 16 October 2026; the city's page takes registrations for an alert instead. At the 2025 display tickets were GBP 20 and GBP 35 for Londoners and GBP 40 and GBP 55 for everyone else, with a limit of four per person.

The Mayor's display is fired from barges on the Thames and from the London Eye itself, so the river between Westminster and Waterloo is both the stage and the only place to watch it properly. The embankments are fenced into ticketed viewing areas for the night, which is why the crowd is counted rather than estimated, and why the surrounding bridges and stations are closed or made one-way as midnight approaches.

You need a ticket for a specific viewing area, and they are sold only through the city's official partner rather than at the gate. For the 2026 display the release date had not been announced as of 16 October 2026; the city's page takes registrations and notifies when a date is set. At the 2025 display the limit was four tickets per person, and the final batch went on sale at midday in late November, selling out quickly.
