About the event
Ten days of Cannes selections in Bucharest, 23 October to 1 November 2026, in the festival's 17th year, playing at the Elvire Popesco, the Peasant Museum cinema, the National Museum of Art's auditorium and Apollo 111. The tour then carries on elsewhere: Timisoara 22-25 October, Arad 28-31 October, Oradea 29 October to 1 November and Iasi 6-8 November.
The 17th edition brings the Cannes selection to Bucharest from 23 October to 1 November 2026. The set piece is Cristian Mungiu's Fjord on 24 October, shown simultaneously in every participating cinema with a gala at the Romanian Athenaeum that evening. The Autumn Previews section adds Romanian films ahead of their release.
Elvire Popesco is the festival's home cinema in Bucharest, and the Romanian Athenaeum carries the Fjord gala on 24 October. If the Bucharest dates do not work, the same programme travels: Timisoara first, from 22 October, then Arad, Oradea and finally Iasi on 6 to 8 November.
Screenings are open to the public at the participating cinemas; no accreditation is mentioned. Ticket prices for the 17th edition were not published in the festival's announcements as of 21 October 2026.
