About this event
The Billie Jean King Cup Finals decide the world team championship of women's tennis, the sport's largest annual international team competition for women. It began in 1963 as the Federation Cup, created to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the International Tennis Federation, was shortened to Fed Cup in 1995, and was renamed in 2020 in honour of Billie Jean King — the first major global team competition named after a woman. Nations qualify through regional and play-off rounds during the season, and the surviving teams meet at a single host for a week of ties combining group play with knockout rounds. Each tie is decided by two singles rubbers and a doubles rubber, so a country needs strength in depth rather than one dominant player. The United States hold the record with eighteen titles, followed by the Czech Republic and its Czechoslovak predecessor. The 2026 finals week runs from 15 to 20 September in Spain.
