About British MotoGP
British MotoGP has run at Silverstone since 2010, after decades at Donington Park before that. The Northamptonshire circuit - a former WWII airfield and the long-running home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix - gives MotoGP one of its longest and fastest layouts, at just under 6 km. The race regularly draws one of the largest crowds on the European leg of the calendar, but the circuit's exposed, changeable weather has shaped its history: the 2018 British Grand Prix was cancelled outright after torrential rain left the track flooded, the first cancellation of a British round in the MotoGP era. No British rider has won the premier-class world title since Barry Sheene in 1977, which keeps home-crowd hopes and 'when will Britain win again' storylines part of every edition.
The 2027 British Grand Prix is scheduled for 7-9 August at Silverstone, keeping its usual mid-summer date on the calendar. Fans get the same long, fast layout and, weather permitting, one of the best-attended rounds of the European season.
