The Champions Hockey League Final decides Europe's top club ice hockey competition, contested by teams qualifying from the continent's leading national leagues. The competition in its current form launched in 2014, founded jointly by a group of major European leagues and clubs with the IIHF, after earlier attempts at a pan-European club tournament had failed to hold together. It runs alongside domestic seasons from autumn through to a single-match final in late winter, with a group stage followed by knockout rounds played over two legs. The final itself is a one-off game hosted at the home rink of one of the two finalists rather than at a neutral venue, so the location is confirmed only after the semi-finals. Frölunda of Gothenburg have been the most successful club, with four titles. Swedish, Finnish and Swiss clubs have provided most of the finalists, reflecting the depth of those leagues. The next final is scheduled for 23 February 2027.
