About the event

The Kentucky Derby, first run in 1875, is the longest continuously held annual sporting event in the United States and the opening leg of horse racing's Triple Crown. Its 'Run for the Roses' nickname comes from the garland of roses draped over the winning horse, a tradition dating to the race's earliest editions.

Tickets

Tickets are sold by Churchill Downs through its own box office and official ticketing partner, with general admission the cheapest way in and reserved seats and boxes sold as all-inclusive packages. The track also runs the only official fan-to-fan resale exchange.
