About this event

Newport Jazz Festival, founded in 1954 at Fort Adams State Park on Rhode Island's coast, was the first outdoor jazz festival of its kind and set the template the genre's festival circuit still follows. Its early lineups included performances now regarded as landmark jazz recordings, and the festival has run almost continuously since, alongside its sister Newport Folk Festival.
