About the event
The Great Migration follows more than a million wildebeest, accompanied by zebra and gazelle, through the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem in an annual movement driven by rainfall and grazing. The Maasai Mara is most associated with the dramatic Mara River crossings, but wildlife timing changes with the weather and no exact crossing date can be promised. The 2026 seasonal listing begins on 30 June, when travellers commonly base themselves in or near the reserve for the northern Serengeti and Maasai Mara phase.
