About the event
Locarno has run since 1946, and its signature is the Piazza Grande: an open-air screening in the town square seating roughly 8,000 people under the night sky, one of the largest cinema audiences anywhere. The competition itself favours auteur and first-feature work, with the Golden Leopard as its top prize.
