About the event
Burning Man is built each year as Black Rock City in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, then removed after the event under its Leave No Trace principle. It began as a San Francisco beach gathering in 1986 before moving to the desert in 1990, and its art, camps and the burning of the Man are created by participants rather than supplied as a conventional festival programme. The 2026 gathering is scheduled from 29 August to 5 September.
